Artificial Grass Heliport – Upminster
The client had asked us to design and build a heliport for the many friends and guests who meet with him on a weekly/monthly basis who have Helicopters. He assisted with the data research into what we include in the build up of the base to carry the weight of the Helicopters. A 150mm, 16m diameter base was dug out and built. Infilled with 6 tons of MOT and Granite dust and rigorously wackered down to stop any movement of the base works. A core aluminium edging was used around the perimeter to hold in the grass and top base layers.
The Easi-Wentworth grass was chosen by the client for it compacted pile and its abilities for high usage. The “H” for the Heliport lettering was cut out of white coloured Wentworth grass and had to be position at the right angle. This was 221 .166 degrees, which, a good working compass enabled our fitting to find the exact location for it. We also fitted the air sock for the wind direction and left the customer very happy indeed.
